We humans aren't producers because we don’t produce our own food. Plants are an example of producers because they produce their own food. Plants are producers through the process of photosynthesis. Plants have to have a green part of it to do this particular cycle. Plants take in carbon dioxide and make it into food, for thenselves, and make the carbon that we breathe out into the air that we breathe in.

Consumers consume things. Animals and humans are consumers because we don't produce our own food. To clarify, consumers eat food, and they aren't producers.
