This lesson was originally designed to use with 4th graders

  • Read Pig Pigger Piggest by Rick Walton to the class
  • Once students have an understanding of superlatives you may challenge them to do some of their own writing with superlatives.
    • Review the story of Goldilocks with the class. You may have the class help you tell the story as you construct a flow map outlining the key events on the board.
    • Then ask students to write a short summary of the story of Goldilocks. They must use at least 6 superlatives in their story. (hoter porridge, biggest chair, softest bed) They should circle the superlatives that they use. Remind them to avoid double superlatives.
